    Joey Votto

7teen, Cane, other Reds fans any fear he's depressed again? Back to back nights that he's not playing. Reds are claiming a stiff neck, a similar weird injury was to blame last season. I just hope we don't start down this road again, it's the best team they've had in quite some time. Without Votto they turn into a middle of the road team, with him they are leading the division and have the second best record in the NL.

Has he had depression issues in the past? Hes a solid player no doubt about it.

    Re: Joey Votto

I'm hoping it isn't anything major. Luckily, we are on cruise control tonight adn won last night with him out. Hopefully he'll be back for the Astros tomorrow.

On the same topic, it is a travesty Votto isn't in the top 5 in the NL for the All-Star game among firstbaseman. He either leads the league among 1b or is in the top 2 in at least 5 or 6 categories. Perhaps only Albert Pujols is the only NL 1b better than Joey.

I've already cast my 25 votes on MLB.com and ahve noticed a strong push to get more Reds fans to vote for Votto.

    Re: Joey Votto

Stripes, he missed a ton of games with depression last season. I agree 7teen it's a shame he's not leading the race right now. As long as fans vote it will be hard for Cincinnati to out vote bigger markets to get Reds as starters. At this point, Rolen, Votto, and Rhodes should be all stars.

Votto will be on the All Star team unless he is hurt. I have no doubt about that. No way he will pass Pujols though.

I just hope he suits up this weekend when I'm at the park, it's bad enough I'm being forced to watch Harang pitch.

    Re: Joey Votto

I dont know about Votto being the 2nd best 1B, but he has had a better year so far than even Pujols.

Id take Pujols, Howard, Fielder over Votto, but I take Votto over A. Gonzales, Lee, Dunn, etc...

Votto out of the lineup again tonight. I'm really starting to get worried.

Probalby won't be back until at least Sunday.

But with Miguel Cairo swinging a hot bat, who needs Votto? (sarcasm)

Fielder is not better than Votto.
